Networking

Networking

We connect institutions and the professionals within them, building the relationships from which collaboration, joint programs and shared research emerge.

Objective: Transform IALU into a highly connected collaborative ecosystem.

Projects

Institutional Networks

Communities of practice that connect peers holding the same function across member universities. The first wave (Internationalization, Mission, Research, Communication, and Fundraising and Advancement) is chartered in November 2026; the second wave (Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, and Sustainability and Social Impact) follows in 2027. These communities are the successors of the former IALU committees. See the Communities tab.

How to take part: Name the relevant officers of your institution to the communities and sustain their participation.

Vertical Alliances of Excellence

Discipline-based alliances of faculties and schools across the network: the La Salle Business School Alliance and the Engineering Alliance. See the Alliances tab.

How to take part: Bring the relevant faculty or school of your institution into one of the alliances.

COIL, Mirror Classes and Virtual Mobility

Scales Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) and virtual mobility across the network, supported by a shared COIL platform (2026–2027), so that students and faculty collaborate internationally without travelling.

In a network as geographically diverse as IALU, physical mobility is valuable but out of reach for many students and faculty. Since 2020, IALU has offered free COIL training to faculty at member institutions, made possible by the leadership of Universidad La Salle México. Each training cohort is paired with a partner institution from another region, so participants complete the program with a real collaboration already underway. In a COIL experience, faculty from two institutions in two countries co-design and co-teach a shared module, and students work in international teams, developing technological fluency, intercultural awareness, multilingual communication, empathy and adaptability.

In Mirror Classes, now being piloted, paired courses at two institutions are taught in parallel, sharing sessions, materials and joint student work across borders. The pilot tests the model at small scale before any decision to expand it.

How to take part: Offer and match courses, train faculty in the COIL methodology, or pair one or more courses with a partner institution for Mirror Classes.

Research and Assets Collaboration

Builds the shared research infrastructure of the network, beginning with the mapping of Lasallian researchers and an expertise database (2026–2027), and moving toward joint research collaboration and shared assets in 2027–2028.

How to take part: Contribute your institution’s researcher data, connect your research office, and join joint research initiatives as they form.

Encuentro 2028

The network-wide Lasallian gathering that closes the 2026–2028 cycle: the moment when the results of the mandate are presented to the whole Lasallian family.

How to take part: Take part in the design and the program, or host or co-organize the event.
