Academic freedom is fundamental to IALU\u2019s mission of providing quality higher education. As a SAR member, we demonstrate our commitment and responsibility to preserving and promoting the freedom to think, locally and globally.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.scholarsatrisk.org\/resources\/free-to-think\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Free to Think<\/a>, a recent report published by SAR, scholars and students at universities around the world face regular threats as a result of their academic work and free expression of ideas.<br>These threats to higher education communities range from restrictions on travel and unjustified firings to imprisonment and violence. \u201cAttacks on higher education shrink the space where people can freely think and ask questions about complex and contentious issues,\u201d said SAR\u2019s Executive Director, Robert Quinn. \u201cOur Network members are central to protecting scholars targeted by these attacks and building a stronger, safer university space.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SAR member institutions assist persecuted scholars and students by offering temporary research and teaching positions, monitoring and advocating against attacks on higher education, and conducting learning initiatives to promote academic freedom. In addition, faculty, staff and students at member institutions have the opportunity to engage in SAR activities, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Inviting SAR scholars to share their stories on campus through the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.scholarsatrisk.org\/actions\/speaker-series\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SAR Speaker Series<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Advocating on behalf of imprisoned scholars through&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.scholarsatrisk.org\/actions\/student-advocacy-seminars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Student Advocacy Seminars<\/a>&nbsp;and SAR\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.scholarsatrisk.org\/actions\/action-campaigns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Action Campaigns<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Researching attacks on higher education through the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.scholarsatrisk.org\/actions\/academic-freedom-monitoring-project\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Academic Freedom Monitoring Project<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Engaging in a growing conversation around university values by attending SAR&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.scholarsatrisk.org\/actions\/workshops-and-conferences\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">workshops<\/a>&nbsp;and joining&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.scholarsatrisk.org\/actions\/working-groups\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">working groups<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Faculty, staff and students are invited
